Far away between mountains and hills
There echoed a voice that gave them chills
A stream passed by and moon rose high
Yet nature's sounds couldn't drown that cry
It whispered the tales of aching hearts
Who lived with grace, now torn in parts
The fading green seemed to share the pain
Of a land once free from a heavy chain
Some unmarked graves and fear of death
Weighed like stones on people's breath
One stood at the peak to glance at home
Barbed in wires where none could roam
Bitter is the wail of human humn
Beating in chests like broken drum
Old wives narrated those brighter days
When children ran through uncaged ways
Then stories ticked with tragic ills
Far away between mountains and hills
Once home was untouched, wild, and grand
Now lost to the reach of a longing hand
